Dava Sobel (b. 1947) is a former New York Times science reporter who has gone to write multiple award winning books. Longitude (1995) transformed modern science writing and was followed by the equally acclaimed Galileo’s Daughter (2000). She’s known for her deft combination of hard science with a poetic aesthetic. Her work has also been published in numerous magazines over her more than thirty year career.
