Robin Hobb  is the pen name of American author Margaret Astrid Lindholm Ogden. She is best known for the books taking place in the Realm of the Elderlings, which started in 1995 with the publication of Assassin’s Apprentice, the first book in the Farseer trilogy.

From 1983 to 1992, Hobb wrote exclusively under the pseudonym Megan Lindholm. Fiction under that name includes fantasy adventure (The Ki and Vandien tales) and urban fantasy (Wizard of the Pigeons). In 1995, she began use of the pseudonym Robin Hobb for traditional fantasy novels.
