A winner of numerous awards, American author John Vaillant got his start as a contributor to National Geographic and Outside magazine. In 2005 he published his first book, The Golden Spruce, which explores the people and forest of British Columbia. After receiving much acclaim, in 2010 he went on to publish The Tiger, about the vanishing tigers of Siberia. More recently, he published his first work of fiction, entitled The Jaguar’s Children. He lives in Vancouver and spends much of his time working for conservationist causes.
